this song gets me in a really good mood, whenever i want to write music like this i always over complicate it and make it a much bigger deal than it is, especially with trance but songs like this just make me want to create and it shows that it isn't that complicated as i make it

this songs cool as fuck m8, lots of inspiration from it ^_^

Teckmo-X responds:

It was a very basic song to start with. I didn't use much to it. Glad you like it!

why even upload a 4 second loop?

Spurta responds:

ever heard the phrase better than nothing?
yeah that

speed up the drums a bit and get rid of the repetition in the main synth
when i first tried to make DnB i downloaded a bunch of drum loops and i would just look at the layout for them and see what its supposed to look like, then i tried matching it in FL's sequencer
its actually pretty damn simple, just kick snare kick snare and some high hats or other drums n shit
this isnt that bad to be honest its just that synth on a constant loop, try changing the chords around every 4-8 bars, drums don't usually change except in the intro and if you're doing a transition with a drum fill and outro, dnb is usually reese's, not synths like the one looping
also for the bassline, try not to loop it unless you're modulating it in some way, a reese usually has a notch filter on it and you move that band around with an automation clip
that bass actually would work better with a drum fill

Spurta responds:

currently using ignite, not FL.

FL has gotten super iffy for me

so your name on NG is 'spurta' yet you call yourself 'frostii'?
these sound like really bad mmm presets to be honest
sorry m8

Spurta responds:

Let's get things straight here for a second.

I go by two different names, representing two different styles.
Spurta does whatever he wants to do, and Frostii leans more towards aggressive DnB
It's like what Eminem did with Slim Shady.

IJ1 and I did not use any forms of Magix MusicMaker program, we used Ignite for it, which has no presets.

We actually had to go through the process of finding a chord and harmonies for it, and spent a good four hours working on this, putting it through editing as well.

Thanks anyways for your feedback,
Spurta

using FL's default drum shots are something you might want to avoid, they just don't sound good in any song especially since those default ones are meant for a club song
those choirs do not mix that well with the vibe and are kinda overpowering everything
trance pads in a DnB song... that's a little unfitting
if you're trying DnB i would suggest making a reese bassline then add a beat to it and go from there
pads in a DnB song are usually dark and low not upbeat and high
and ive never really heard a choir that actually worked in a DnB song
sorry for the harsh words m8
just my ideas ;p

Spurta responds:

>not using fl
Also, it is a single voice, its meant to be louder than the rest.
-Frostii

drum and bass with a side of acid techno
rare to hear that
intro was a bit weird
drums kinda made me want to mute them in the intro
drums in the chorus are just weird sounding in general, sounds like a crappy bandpass that didn't pass was on them, that snare would be much better in an ambient song as its much to weak for a dnb song
bass wob was pretty good
melodic bells near the end really did not fit that well

Spurta responds:

If you look at the tags...
"crap"

Frostii

i quite like the names of the songs for starters, fits quite well to an imagination of what the scene would be like following the music
i like how you're incorporating your own idea of horror music
1| Someone is out there: the weird alien ambient fly by's, the weird detuned bells, damn dude i'm not even this creative with my own ambient music
2| Isolation: out of them all i have to say 'isolation' is my favorite, that sub acid bassline, the creepy melody that follows
3| coming after us: the up and down melody was quite interesting, didn't expect something like that to be in a song like this
4| moment of peace: it makes me feel like i'm in something like a dark forest that belongs in Undertale which is actually pretty damn great
5| Don't break silence: holy hell i'm loving this one, so large scale of imagination, the open feeling, the darkness of this song is just so damn good, i particularly like the weird ''saw'' sounds
6| Last words: the vibes in this song really kick in on this one, makes me feel like im chilling with that ghost from Undertale
i really enjoyed all of these songs, you incorporated your own ideas of ambient horror instead of making it sound generic like most manage to get
it was completely different from any horror theme i've ever heard and it was damn near great
every song just has this vibe to it that really helps set the mood
this actually makes me want to go play undertale lol
damn dude keep this up because its fucking golden
keep it up ^_^

DjGubkafish responds:

Thx man I appreciate it .

well this is actually pretty cool, i like the intro synth, those chip sounds are amazing, drums fit pretty damn well
you are not really limited by a computer keyboard, that's all i have too and i still manage to make it work, but if you have a way to make midi then you should just do that
anyway
this song has some pretty flawless transitions, drums are perfect, chips and what not sound pretty damn great, i just wish they were put in more, this song like i said, its great
keep it up ^ _ ^

SynthGoddess responds:

Thank you thank you thank youuuu!

You're right, I shouldn't be too limited with just a computer keyboard. You can still make things happen with it, I guess. :) Thanks for such nice words~! You're the best

well for DnB
the drum beat is more it for an into not the entire thing
the bassline does not fit at all in my opinion mostly because its too quiet and not heavy enough in the mid section
also the FX........don't use them trust me
transitions are a little weird though
the bells are not that great, as in they don't mix well
this seems more like an experimental kind of song
also the ending was really sudden, you should have either ended it on a stretched note or faded it all out or looped it
not to be the asshole who calls shit out but are you using MMM?
i you are then message me your email im going to hook you up with something if you like
when i was your age i used MMM then i stopped and went for FL studio
much better system to work with, that or reason by propellerhead

Spurta responds:

It was a bit of an experiment, yeah.
Either way, thank you for the feedback, man.
Keep rockin'!

well thing is with big room house
its all idiots using nexus which is a preset based plugin
they use it then call it there own style and they say its all there own creation
its not, its someone elses sounds but just changed with basic filters
this sounds more like trance not big room house
mostly because a lot of the leads sound like trance leads, the drums are more dubstep/trance then house or big room house
the transition at 2:00, yea thats trance right there just with a really loud lead
you should really change some of the volume levels in this and always make sure none of the sounds are going way too loud
i always assign a synth to a specific spot on my mixer then add a compressor on every channel that has something there regardless of what it is
also a few drum hits in this don't exactly fit that well
at 3:45 that main lead really needs a compressor on it
also with vocals always compress them, transition from 3:45 to 4:24..... it was decent in my opinion, i would have reversed a crash drum and added reverb and set the decay to like 1.5 seconds
i feel like i know the drums your using and i dont know why, what one shot samples for drums did you use?
well as far as the song goes i just gave it my opinion on it
it wasn't bad actually
just needed some compression in some spots and maybe a tune up on some of the transitions
keep it up m8 ^_^

Razorrekker responds:

Lol... Big room house starter kit: comes with 78 copies of nexus, more nexus, and yet more nexus!
Trance? what kind of trance would this be, 'cause most of the trance listen to is the progressive trance, or the nice and calm stuff. The dubstep style drums were intended, because I wanted this to be on the more unique side of big room. I don't use compressors a lot because the song for some reason sounds over compressed and weird... Yes, the drop lead was too loud. I've noticed that... to late to fix it now. the drums i'm using I made myself by layering snares and stuff...
Alright. I think I covered all the stuff you talked about. If you need anything else, message me, because I don't think that this can be replied to again..

HEYYYOOOOO i try to make some cool music, enjoy it if you want! i use FL studio 12.5 and ableton live lite
